… it’s been a while since the last blog and hopefully I’ll get away with a few hail marys and avoid the lashes (although the butterfly kisses on the cheek D&W give me with theirs are quite nice).
As I mentioned, last weekend I was in Santa Barbara for a wedding and a fun affair it was. Ten adults, eight kids, as Sly Stone would say "it’s a family affair." Good food, good company and kids frolicking on the beach (I of course am too old to frolic or bust a move, but I did say "isn’t this nice" a couple of times).
It was nice to see a few of you at the Creative Commons event last week. For those of you who don’t know exactly what that is, it’s a new way of being able to license your music. As opposed to stamping "all rights reserved" on a CD I can easily give various, and legally binding, parameters for people to use my music should they so desire. In my case the license says that you can use the music in any way as long as you’re not making money from it and that you credit me as an artist. Yes it’s that simple so I’m an ardent supporter of it. It means that I don’t have to hire a lawyer and everyone knows quite clearly what permissions are given. For more info go to www.creativecommons.org. We’ve also posted some photos from the event, which you can see on the Photos page.
Speaking of photos, we’ve added some more pictures to the HP Release Party photoset. So if you haven’t taken a look-see since the set first went up, head on over.
Thanks to all, again, for the wonderful birthday gifts I received. I know I’ve been a bit tardy in my personal responses but rest assured that they got here and that they are greatly appreciated.
I’ll get around to specific questions you’ve sent at the beginning of next week when I have time to go through the various mailboxes.
However, I know there have been a few questions about the HP Deluxe Package so I’ll address that. The design is still underway and we are looking to release it sometime in the fall. The reason for this is that we’ve decided it would be a good idea for me to finish writing the short stories that go with each song and include them all in the booklet. I’m not the quickest writer in the world, hence the delay, but I promise it will be well worth the wait.
I’ve been spending much time with the kids of course as they’re on vacation. Wilder is at tennis camp and Diva "doesn’t do camp" (her words not mine). We have done a few movies, "Get Smart" being the top of our list so far.
It’s been a little quiet on the political front but I’m sure that will all change as soon as the conventions happen. Until then I’ll have to content myself with my Rock The Vote and Yes We Can t-shirts.
Tomorrow is my first July 4th as an American citizen, I’ll be singing the National Anthem loud and proud with Charlton and Harry at the LA Galaxy game!
‘Till next week – happy 4th to my American brethren and EZEZEZ to everyone.
Papa S. is off to a pre 4th BBQ.
