Better Late Than Never?

A bit overdue for a blog, I know, but fortunately it’s because I’ve been quite busy and therefore have lots to report!

Opensource.com event: I’ll be participating in an online panel about music as part of the OpenSource.com "Open Your World" Forum next Thursday, May 27, at 12.30pm EST. The Forum itself runs all day, covering a variety of topics. You need to register, but it’s online and free, and you can listen/watch for the whole day or just for any part that interests you (like my panel!). Go to http://www.redhat.com/openyourworld/ for more information.

The Sheena Metal Radio Show: I’ll be guesting on "The Sheena Metal Experience" radio show on Tuesday, June 1 at 5:00pm PDT. Get more information and listen live online at http://www.latalkradio.com/Sheena.php. If you’re unable to tune in live, no worries; it’ll be archived online so you can listen on demand.

TEDxHollywood: I’m sorry (although kind of pleased) to say that the TEDxHollywood event on June 5, at which I’ll be speaking, is sold out. However, the presentation will be videotaped and available for free online after the event. I’ll post a link as soon as we have one, or you can check yourself at www.tedxhollywood.com.

Artists for the Arts benefit: Right after TEDxHollywood, at 8pm on Saturday, June 5, I’m zooming over to Barnum Hall at Santa Monica High School to join the lineup at a concert to benefit arts education in the Santa Monica-Malibu public schools. Also on the bill are Venice; Colin Hay (Men At Work); and Fee Waybill (The Tubes). I was invited to participate by Jamie Wollam, drummer extraordinaire (and newest member of the Tears For Fears touring band), who will also be performing at this very worthwhile event. Tickets are still available and you can get them here: http://www.aftafoundation.org/upcomingevents.html.

"Perfectly… Still": Charlton and I are just about done tweaking this song, which will be my next single. I’m grateful to MightyAni for recommending my collaborator on this one: the ethereally-voiced and multi-talented Melissa R. Kaplan (otherwise known as "Universal Hall Pass," give a listen at www.universalhallpass.com). Two fine gentlemen of my recent acquaintance, Barry Gribble and Kevin Good of Integral Arts, will be shooting a video for it… which I can’t wait to see. As far as a release date, that will be soon and of course you’ll be the first to know. It’ll be for sale in all the old familiar places, as well as on my own site (see below).

Website: Thanks to those of you who provided your thoughts about things you’d like to see on my website. We’re underway with changes and updates, although it’s all behind-the-scenes at the moment. I hope we’ll be relaunched by the end of June. We’ll be migrating all your registrations and such – or so I’m told – and I’m counting on a relatively seamless transition (although one never knows with the Internet). In the meantime, thanks for your patience and please bear with the creaky old bits of the current site that are giving us all problems.

I’m gonna Psych you out in the end: James Roday, star-writer-producer of the television series "Psych," recently offered me the chance to guest star on an upcoming episode of the show, and I agreed before he could change his mind. I’ll be taping my appearance this summer, and it will air sometime in the fall. I don’t know exactly when but will keep you posted. "Psych" is on the USA Network here in the States – not sure about elsewhere, please fill us in, if you know, in the comments. Until then, you can content yourself with Shawn and Gus’ performance of "Shout" from Season Two: http://tv.ign.com/dor/objects/830486/psych/videos/psych-gusandshawnperform.html :)

Holiday / Celebrate: With one major Tears tour done – thank you Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Manila, Hong Kong and Taipei! – and another beginning in mid-August, I’m taking a few weeks of holiday once the girls are out of school for the summer. I’ll try to tweet some amusing pictures and travel trivia along the way, but as always my priority will be to spend time with my family, so forewarned and all that.

Until next time,

EZEZEZ
Papa S.
