I know it's been a while but…

…….it’s my age, I get forgetful at times. Seriously though – I’ve been running around doing press, gearing up for the end of the school year and the events that entails, and Frances has been away in England so I’ve been flying solo for a while. She’s now back and I’m thankful to say that all is retuning to normal (although I’m not sure normal is an accurate description of my family).

Right now I’m on a flight home from New York after two days of radio and press there, and in the morning I’m off to New Orleans for a friend’s birthday celebration. It’s all go I tell you.

The big news is of course that Barack Obama is now the presumptive nominee for President. Tuesday was a major celebration, it was just unfortunate that I had to spend the night on a red eye to New York. I was particularly fascinated by the e-mails I received from Europe. It seems no-one believed that the U.S. would nominate an African American; I’m happy to say that they are now viewing the US in a different light. Onwards and upwards as they say (and when I say they I of course mean I).

I’ve been getting more e-mails (especially from new Kooks) asking if there is anything they can do to help promote HP, so as a little refresher here’s the list from an earlier blog:

If you’re on a social networking site like MySpace, Facebook, Virb, iLike, Flickr:

  • Add my page there as a Friend, if you haven’t already. The links to a few of them are conveniently at the top of this page, next to my picture :) .
  • Add one (or more!) of my songs and videos to your profile
  • Add me to your list of favorite artists
  • Send a message or bulletin to your Friends letting them know about my album

If you have your own blog or site:

  • Add a link to my site (www.curtsmithofficial.com) – the more pages that link to me, the better the search results will be!
  • Blog about Halfway, pleased (send me a link if you do)
  • Add a picture from my Flickr account to your page

If you post or comment regularly on other blogs, by all means post about Halfway, pleased being available.

Let the music critic for your local paper or favorite website know the album is out. All the songs are streamed on my website, and the album artwork is right there to grab, as are my publicist’s contact details, so it’s a cinch for them to give a listen and review it.

And last, but not least, you can (and should!) post your own reviews of Halfway, pleased on Amazon, iTunes and/or CD Baby.

I’ll write a more detailed blog next week after the LA event on Tuesday, but until then onwards………….you get the picture!

Papa S. is now about to land at LAX.

Calling Five KOOKS

I’ve been persuaded (it wasn’t all that difficult, actually) to be honored with a small party to celebrate the release of Halfway, pleased. It’ll take place here in Los Angeles on the evening of Tuesday, June 10. During the festivities I’ll do a few brief acoustic sets, with Charlton and Doug there to accompany me.

I wish I could invite each and every one of you to attend, but the space is quite small and the number of guests strictly limited.

However, I’m setting aside five spots on the guest list for fans, each of whom can bring a guest of his or her own. One caveat: you and your guest must be 21 or over (rules of the establishment, don’t yell at me).

If you’re interested in attending, here’s what to do:

  • Send an email to june10@curtsmithofficial.com saying you’d like to attend the June 10 event. Please include your name and daytime phone number. We must receive this email by 5pm PST on Tuesday, June 3.
  • We’ll put all the names received by the deadline into a hat, and Diva and Wilder will pick five at random.
  • Someone from my team will promptly contact those whose names are selected. You must confirm that you do indeed plan to attend, and provide the name of your guest if you’re bringing one.
  • If you’re unable to attend after all, or we can’t confirm your attendance by end of day on June 6, we’ll offer the invitation to the next name drawn.

That’s about as fair as we can make it. Again, I wish you could all be there, but I’ll blog about it afterwards and I’m sure there will be plenty of photos to post as well.

And before you ask, since I know you will: the circumstances that led to this party happening are rather unique. I know that many of you do not live in or near Los Angeles and would be unable to attend even if the number of guests were unlimited. You’ve all been amazingly supportive and it would be lovely to celebrate with you in your own city or country – but as I’ve no current plans to tour, that’s not in the cards at the moment. Obviously you’ll all be the first to know if that changes!
