Random News

I thought I’d check in and let you know about a few things that might be of interest:

Be A VIP At A Whitefire Show Soundcheck With three shows remaining in my Whitefire residency – May 18, May 25 and June 1 – I’ve decided to make it a bit more interesting for fans. We’ve had some requests for soundcheck access and so I thought: why not?

I’m making up to ten VIP Soundcheck tickets per show available. These will include:

  • Early access to the theatre (an hour before the doors open) to watch soundcheck
  • A pre-show meet and greet with me and the band
  • Priority seat selection (as all tickets are general admission)
  • I’ll even provide dinner (note: the band and I will be eating separately, a pre-show tradition).

These tickets are priced at $100 each. But to thank you for reading my blog, use discount code KOOKVIP and you’ll get $25 off the VIP ticket price. :)

If you’ve already bought tickets for one of the upcoming shows but want a VIP Soundcheck ticket instead, just buy the Soundcheck ticket, let us know you won’t need your general admission ticket(s), and we’ll cancel/refund your original order. That’s a bit cumbersome, I realize, but for your protection the ticketing system we use won’t let us upgrade the tickets for you.

Regular general admission tickets are still available for each show as well, so I will hope to see as many of you as possible!

Ask Me Anything No, really. I’m trying out a new SoundCloud feature called Questions. Visit my TakesQuestions page and record a question for me. I’ll record and upload my answer in return.

The response mechanism is a bit clunky (I have to record my answer as a separate file, rather than appending my answer to your question), but they’re working to refine that and I’m always interested in what the weatherpeople at SoundCloud are getting up to.

A few caveats: Please be patient if I don’t get to your question right away. I’ll answer them as and when I can, so it may be a few hours or even days. And as usual, my top priority is the privacy of my family and friends, so take that into consideration before posing your question.

Speaking of SoundCloud, I’ve been playing around a bit with their iPhone app. Last week I uploaded a clip from the studio of a work in progress song, with Carina Round providing the vocals. So check my SoundCloud page regularly for random sonic goodies. :)

Rock Hall Of FameShow A reminder that I’ll be in Cleveland this Saturday, May 14, to perform at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame’s annual “It’s Only Rock And Roll” benefit show.

I’m honored to be sharing the bill with Darlene Love, Wanda Jackson, Mavis Staples, Cyndi Lauper, and Chuck Jackson.

Tickets, $20, are on sale at Ticketmaster and the Rock Hall, or charge by phone (800) 745-3000. Proceeds from the event benefit the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum’s educational activities.

TFF Tour News I was hoping to have dates to share with you for the Mexico/South America leg of our tour by now, but please bear with me as we hope to announce them very soon. In the meantime, the Tears For Fears West Coast tour dates, along with ticket purchase links when I have them, are on the Events page of my website.

Summertime. The summer is rapidly creeping up on us, and the next few months will be busy ones for me. I’m doing the benefit in Cleveland, three more Whitefire shows, my girls will finish school for the year, and then I’ll be off to Italy to celebrate my birthday (yes, it’s a big-ish one). I tend to post fewer words when I travel, but more photos, so I guess that evens things out ;) .

Can You Hear Me Now?

I thought it might be helpful to post a round-up of various sites where I maintain pages online. Not everyone who follows me on Twitter knows I have a SoundCloud profile; not everyone who visits this site knows I have a Flickr page, etc. With that in mind, here are the various places you can find me, follow me, etc. You may not have heard (much) about some of these sites – check them out and see what/who else you can find there besides me! :)

If you’re on Twitter and/or Facebook: we’ve now added buttons so that you can Like and Tweet individual posts from this site, should you be so inclined.

Widgetize Me

A few of my pages offer (free) widgets that you can embed (or link to) in your own site/blog.

On SoundCloud, you can embed individual tracks like the one below; just click on the “share” button from any song on my SoundCloud page. You can share as a player, as a mini player, or display the artwork (see example below).

You can also embed/post my TuneCore player, below, which comes pre-loaded with a number of my songs streaming on it. Just hover over the player and click on “share” to see your options.

Know of any other places I should be? Did I miss any that I should have listed here? Let us know in the comments.

Happy New Year!
